Bridger Benner Hospitalized after Surprise Hit-and-Run near 175th Avenue and Paradise Lane
SURPRISE, AZ (September 3, 2024) — A 12-year-old boy identified as Bridger Benner sustained injuries in a hit-and-run on Thursday, August 22.
According to the Surprise Police Department, the accident took place near 175th Avenue and Paradise Lane at about 6:00 p.m.
Police said Bridger rode his bike near 175th Avenue and Paradise Lane, just a block away from his home. Then a vehicle struck him and fled.
Good Samaritans tried to help and called his parents. According to Bridger’s parents, their son’s helmet saved his life. However, he still suffered extensive injuries. He sustained a broken clavicle and wrist, damaged knees, and a fractured hip.
Paramedics brought Bridger to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. But now, he is already at home and still recovering.
As of writing, the hit-and-run suspect is still at large.
Authorities said the suspect vehicle is a 2018-2024 dark gray Toyota Camry. In addition, they said the vehicle lost its front right passenger mirror during the crash. It also had front-end damage, including damage to the grill.
