Miracle Calloway Dies in Tucson DUI Accident

 
TUCSON, AZ (March 13, 2024) — An 11-month-old infant, Miracle Mae Calloway, died in a DUI pedestrian accident on Tuesday, February 27.
 
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. near Ruthrauff Road and Kain Avenue.
 
According to PCSD, 34-year-old Marquise Reese walked near Ruthrauff and Kain while pushing 11-month-old Miracle Mae in a stroller with two other adults. As Reese tried to cross Ruthrauff, a vehicle struck both of them.
 
Paramedics transported both victims to the hospital. Reese sustained minor injuries. However, Miracle Mae suffered life-threatening injuries and died.
 
Authorities identified the driver involved as 32-year-old Colton Frank Ortiz. According to court documents, Ortiz drove with no headlights.
 
Currently, officials held Ortiz on a $200,000 bond. He now faces charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault, and aggravated DUI.
 
The family said Miracle’s loved ones knew her as “Peanut” and “Little One.”
