One Killed after Truck Crashes into Tree on Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (February 8, 2023) – A woman died while a man was hospitalized after their pickup truck crashed into trees and a fire hydrant on Atlantic Avenue.

According to the Long Beach Fire Department, their crews arrived to the scene at 5:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Atlantic Avenue.

Based on reports, a 1995 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck was speeding along the southbound lane of Atlantic Avenue. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb and a fire hydrant. After that it proceeded to crash into three trees.

A woman in the truck died of her injuries.

Responders transported the man to a trauma center. He was in critical condition, but is now stable.

Due to the impact, two oil containers from the pickup truck were spilled onto the street. The Long Beach Environmental Unit had to do a cleanup afterwards.
