Richard Wellman Dies in Hudspeth County Car Accident

 
HUDSPETH COUNTY, TX (December 12, 2022) – Officials identified 87-year-old Richard Wellman of Las Vegas, Nevada as the victim who died in a car crash with a trailer on 10 Freeway on December 7.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 1:00 AM at mile maker 161, about 20 miles east of Van Horn. Based on a report, Wellman was driving along the eastbound side of the freeway at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he struck a trailer that was being towed by another vehicle.
 
As a result, Wellman died at the scene.
 
The driver of the other vehicle, 58-year-old Alfonso Escajeda Robles of San Elizario, was not hurt in the crash.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
