Rene Cooke Arrested after Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Littleton
LITTLETON, CO (November 5, 2024) — Authorities arrested 41-year-old Rene Cooke after a hit-and-run on Monday, October 14.
According to the Littleton Police Department, the incident happened at the intersection of Broadway and West Powers Avenue at around 8:00 p.m.
Littleton Police said when they arrived at the scene, they determined two people were in a minor car accident. Then the situation escalated.
After the minor crash, the two drivers had an altercation. One of them got out of their vehicle. When that person was outside of their car, Cooke reportedly ran over the pedestrian. Then he fled the scene.
South Metro Fire Rescue arrived and brought the pedestrian to the hospital. Police said as of Tuesday that the pedestrian remains in critical condition.
Police said they eventually found Cook. They then took him into custody for vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident causing serious body injury.
The Littleton Police Department said they will continue to investigate the incident.
