Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 24 in Peyton

 
PEYTON, CO (October 30, 2024) — A man died following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 24 on Sunday, October 13.
 
The Colorado State Patrolsaid the accident occurred at about 11:39 a.m. on Highway 24 near Stapleton Road.
 
According to CSP, they discovered that a Ford traveled west and crossed the center line. After that, it collided with an eastbound Chevrolet truck.
 
Officers said the impact of the collision ejected the Ford driver from the vehicle and the Chevrolet driver became pinned.
 
The Ford driver only identified as a 34-year-old man, died at the scene. His identity was not immediately available pending notification of loved ones.
 
Meanwhile, emergency responders airlifted the 25-year-old man from Calhan in the Chevrolet to the hospital with serious injuries.
 
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
 
Authorities closed Highway 24 in both directions east of Colorado Springs for hours. They reopened it at around 5:00 p.m.
 
The incident is still under investigation.
