Suspected DUI Driver John Hooven Involved in Hit-and-Run on Highway 18 at Weyerhaeuser Way in Federal Way
FEDERAL WAY, WA (October 4, 2024) – Authorities arrested 58-year-old John A. Hooven following a hit-and-run on Highway 18 on September 10.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Weyerhaeuser Way around 8:30 PM. Based on a report, Hooven was driving a car erratically on the westbound side of the highway before the crash.
With his action, his car drifted onto the shoulder and struck a tow truck driver. The victim was outside of his vehicle trying to load up a car at that time. Subsequently, Hooven got out of his 2019 Hyundai Sonata and left the area.
As a result, the tow truck driver suffered serious injuries in the crash. Crews airlifted the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
State troopers intercepted Hooven while he was walking along the shoulder of Weyerhaeuser Way S. They arrested him for suspected driving under the influence, hit-and-run, and vehicular assault.
