Teen Struck and Killed by Vehicle on West Melville Road in Spokane County

 
SPOKANE COUNTY, WA (September 12, 2024) – The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a 17-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on West Melville Road on August 27.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Four Lakes. Based on a report, the teen was a passenger in a vehicle traveling west on the roadway.
 
The vehicle pulled over on the side of the road to check the tie-down straps on the vehicle around 8:30 PM. The victim got out and was standing near the center line of the road when a Jeep hit him.
 
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Authorities did not release his name, pending notification of next of kin.
 
The teen was wearing dark clothing and vehicles had headlights on and it was unclear why he was standing in the roadway. The driver of the Jeep remained on scene and tried to help the victim.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
