Manuel Luera Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Eighth Street near Tower Drive

 
ODESSA, TX (March 5, 2024) — A 32-year-old man identified as Manuel Luera died in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, February 21.
 
According to the Odessa Police Department, the incident took place on 8th Street and Tower Drive at about 3:59 p.m.
 
The investigation determined that a brown Chevrolet pickup driven by 86-year-old Robert Powell left a private drive in the 2200 block of East Eighth Street. Then he tried to travel north on Tower Drive.
 
Meanwhile, Luera drove a gray Ducati motorcycle east on Eighth Street. Then the Chevrolet pickup truck hit him.
 
Emergency responders pronounced Luera dead at the scene. Authorities have notified his next of kin.
 
There were no reports of other injuries in the collision.
 
Officers determined that speed was a factor in the incident. However, authorities continue to investigate the crash.
