Tyretta Yazzie Struck and Killed by Vehicle on 51st Avenue in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (July 26, 2023) – Phoenix police identified 41-year-old Tyretta Yazzie who died in a pedestrian accident on 51st Avenue on July 11.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Glenrosa Avenue around 4:45 AM. Based on a report, Yazzie and a man attempted to cross 51st Avenue mid-block when a southbound car came along.
 
Police said the car tried to swerve but it hit Yazzie and grazed the man.
 
As a result, officers found Yazzie lying in the roadway with critical injuries. Emergency crews rushed her to the hospital, where she later died.
 
The male pedestrian was not seriously hurt in the incident.
 
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and police did not suspect intoxication as a factor in the crash.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
