3 Killed, Jose Rivas and Christina Gonzalez Identified in Fatal Refugio County Crash

 
REFUGIO COUNTY, TX (July 26, 2023) – Officials identified 39-year-old Jose Rivas of Houston and 39-year-old Christina Gonzalez of Humble who died in a crash on Highway 77 on July 16.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Vidaurri Road at approximately 5:06 AM. Based on a report, the victims were in a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a white GMC truck hit their truck, pushing it into the grassy median and causing it to roll over. The force ejected Gonzalez from the Chevy while Rivas and an 8-month-old boy were trapped in the burning vehicle.
 
As a result, Rivas, Gonzales, and the baby died in the incident.
 
The driver of the GMC truck was a 16-year-old who remained at the scene.
