Van Wallace Killed, Ana Bustamante and Joaquin Bustamante Injured in Car Crash on 45 Freeway Van Wallace Identified in Fatal Corsicana Accident, Joaquin Bustamante and Ana Bustamante Hurt CORSICANA, TX (March 21, 2023) - Officers identified 72-year-old Van Michael Wallace of Corsicana as the victim who died in a multi-vehicle crash on 45 Freeway on March 16. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in the 3500 block of 45 Freeway. Based on a report, Wallace was traveling south on the road in a Chevrolet pickup prior to the crash. As he stopped to make a left turn into a private drive, 18-year-old Marvin David Hernandez of Rice failed to control his speed and struck his rear. Subsequently, the impact pushed Wallace's pickup into the northbound lanes of the freeway where a Ford F-450 and a Chevrolet Malibu struck it. Debris from the crash hit a Dodge Grand Caravan traveling north. As a result, Wallace suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Crews identified 61-year-old Ana Maria Bustamante and 65-year-old Joaquin Bustamante as the victims who suffered non-incapacitating injuries. They transported them to Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas for treatment. As of now, the case remains under investigation.
