Lubbock Police Department said an SUV driven by 41-year-old Chowing traveled west in the 2800 block of Clovis Road. Then it crashed with a car driven by 21-year-old Pedroza driving east. When officers arrived, they found Chowning, Shaffer, and Pedroza. 30-year-old Shaffer sustained life-threatening injuries and paramedics brought her to University Medical Center. Lubbock Police later said that Shaffer was upgraded to a stable condition. Paramedics also transported Chowning to UMC with minor injuries.
