Zainab Monsoori Identified in Fatal Crash on 635 Freeway in Irving
IRVING, TX (November 17, 2023) – Irving police identified Zainab Monsoori who died in a head-on crash on 635 Freeway on November 10.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Highway 161 around 2:30 AM. Based on a report, 22-year-old Diamond Brown admitted to intentionally driving her Nissan Altima into oncoming traffic.
At that point, her vehicle was traveling the wrong way down the right shoulder and then swerved into oncoming traffic when she struck another vehicle with Monsoori as a passenger.
As a result, Monsoori suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
The driver of the second vehicle, Fatima El Adel, sustained severe injuries.
Crews transported Brown to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She admitted that the crash was intentional because she was trying to end her own life.
Officers charged Brown with manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for recklessly driving her vehicle into oncoming traffic causing the death of one victim and serious bodily injury to another.
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
