Yaneisy Lua Hit, Injured by Hit-and-Run Vehicle in Austin
AUSTIN, TX (March 27, 2023) – Officers identified Yaneisy Lua as the victim who suffered serious injuries in a suspected hit-and-run accident on 7th Street on March 18.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at the 35 Freeway Frontage Road around 2:30 AM. Based on a report, Lua was crossing an alley near the intersection prior to the crash.
Subsequently, she called her sister, Mariana Lua, to tell her that she had been hit by a car and could not breathe.
As a result, emergency crews transported Yaneisy to Dell Seton Medical Center with a damaged liver, internal bleeding and bruises all over her face and arms. She remains in critical condition.
Her family claimed that the APD did not file the case as a hit-and-run and reported that the victim fell from her scooter.
As of now, the APD said they are gathering additional information from the family. In addition, an investigation is ongoing.
