Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident on Clearwood Drive in Houston
HOUSTON, TX (October 3, 2022) – Police confirmed a woman died after getting struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run on Clearwood Drive on September 26.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened just north of Almeda Genoa Road around 1:00 AM.
Based on a report, a driver was driving a Dodge Charger when she lost control and crashed into a light pole. Subsequently, the vehicle flipped and hit a woman who was walking across the road.
As a result, the pedestrian died in the incident. Officers did not yet release her name, pending next of kin notification.
After the crash, officers said the female driver ran away on foot and left the victim and her three companions in the car. The passengers in the car stayed at the scene and are cooperating with officers.
Police said they suspected speed as a factor in the crash, but police cannot yet be sure about intoxication until they find the suspect.
