Woman Dies after Westminster Hit-and-Run on 72nd Avenue

 
WESTMINSTER, CO (September 9, 2024) — A woman suffered fatal injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday, September 1.
 
According to the Westminster Police Department, the accident occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on 72nd Avenue, east of Federal Boulevard, near Orchard Park.
 
When officers arrived at the crash site, they discovered a 46-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man with injuries after a hit-and-run. Paramedics then transported both to a local hospital.
 
Medical personnel later pronounced the woman dead. Meanwhile, the man is still in serious condition as of Monday afternoon.
 
The police department said that neither of them was in a crosswalk when the incident occurred.
 
Westminster police said the vehicle involved left the scene without checking on the victims. However, at about 9:00 p.m., officers found the suspected vehicle. Then they arrested the driver only identified as a 19-year-old man.
 
Authorities do not believe alcohol and drugs were factors in the accident.
 
The investigation of the case is still underway.
