Woman Fatally Injured after Van Collision in Scottsdale

 
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (January 18, 2024) — A woman sustained fatal injuries in a van crash on 84th Street on Tuesday, January 16.
 
According to a statement released by Tempe Fire officials, the crash occurred at about 3:00 p.m. at 84th Street and Shea Boulevard.
 
Emergency crews from multiple agencies, including Tempe and Scottsdale, responded and arrived at the scene. They found a minivan and a commercial van in the area. Footage from the scene shows the van belongs to the Cave Creek Unified School District.
 
Fire officials say five people suffered serious injuries in the crash. However, one of the injured only described as a woman later died from her injuries.
 
Officials confirmed there were no students in the school van at the time of the wreck. The identities of the involved were not yet available.
 
According to authorities, neither speed nor intoxication appear to be a factor in the crash.
 
Scottsdale police said they closed Shea Boulevard between 84th Street and Hayden Road. It has since reopened.
