Fatal Hit-and-Run on Highway 523 in Shoreline
SHORELINE, WA (November 14, 2024) — A 23-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run on Highway 523 on Wednesday, October 30.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident occurred on eastbound Highway 523 near Stone Avenue North at about 6:30 p.m.
WSP said a woman tried to cross Highway 523. Then a black GMC Yukon hit her and continued without stopping. The woman died at the scene.
Troopers believe a black 2007 GMC Yukon with Washington license plate BIS1792 was the hit-and-run vehicle. They said that it most likely has front-end damage from the hit-and-run.
WSP later announced an alert citizen helped them find a Yukon that they believe was connected to the hit-and-run. However, there is still another vehicle of interest that deputies hope the public will have information to move forward with their investigation.
Troopers are still trying to get the identity of the driver of another vehicle connected with the Yukon that helped the fleeing driver. They described that vehicle as a silver 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with a black hood. In addition, they said it has a black rear driver-side quarter panel.
Investigators urge anyone who lives west of 5 Freeway between Northgate Way and North 145th Street to check their footage between 6:20 p.m.; and 7:30 p.m. on October 30, 2024.
Our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the deceased victim.
