PHOENIX, AZ (November 14, 2024) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on 79th Avenue on November 2.
 
According to the Phoenix police, the accident took place on 79th Avenue and McDowell Road just before midnight.
 
The initial investigation determined that the man tried to cross McDowell Road outside of the designated crosswalk. Then a vehicle struck him.
 
Officers responded and discovered a man lying in the road. Then paramedics brought him to the hospital, where he later died. They have not yet released his identity.
 
Police say the driver remained at the scene and did not display any signs of impairment.
 
Detectives believe other vehicles may have struck the man following the initial impact. They are still waiting for the final results of the medical examination.
 
Police said they will make charges once they complete the investigation.
