William Shope, Hilda Shope Killed in Accident on Tanque Verde Road [Tucson, AZ]

Hilda Shope and William Shope Identified in Fatal Single-Car Accident in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (April 20, 2023) – Officers identified 86-year-old William Burdett Shope and 85-year-old Hilda Maness Shope as the victims who died in an accident Tanque Verde Road on April 5.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Pantano Road. Based on a report, William was driving west on Tanque Verde Road prior to the crash.
 
When he entered the ramp to southbound Pantano Road, he failed to negotiate a curve before he entered the underpass and left the roadway. Then, his vehicle struck a concrete barrier.
 
As a result, Hilda died at the scene after suffering grave injuries. Emergency crews responded and brought William to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he died later.
 
As of now, officers continue to investigate the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
