William Sears Killed and Ilisia Lujan Arrested after Phoenix Hit-and-Run

 
PHOENIX, AZ (May 8, 2024) — A 43-year-old man identified as William Sears died in a hit-and-run on Thursday, April 25.
 
According to the Phoenix police, officers responded to a hit-and-run crash near 30th Avenue and Thunderbird Road at about 10:40 p.m.
 
Police said Sears rode a motorized scooter west along Thunderbird Road. Then a vehicle struck him. The driver of the car allegedly left the scene before authorities arrived.
 
When officers and fire personnel arrived at the area, they discovered Sears suffering from critical injuries. He died at the scene.
 
Detectives identified 28-year-old Ilisia Lujan as the hit-and-run driver. Authorities booked her into the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office jail.
 
Police did not release any details on the events prior to the crash. They also have not released the charges Lujan faces.
