Wayne Wakefield Killed, Brian Clarke Arrested in DUI Crash on Orange Grove Road [Tucson, AZ]

71-Year-Old Wayne Wakefield Identified in Fatal DUI Crash on Orange Grove Road in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (May 30, 2023) – Pima County Sheriff’s deputies identified 71-year-old Wayne Wakefield who died in a DUI car crash on West Orange Grove Road on May 23.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at North La Cholla Boulevard around 1:24 AM. Based on a report, Wakefield was driving a Toyota near the intersection prior to the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he collided with the Jeep of 29-year-old Brian Clarke.
 
As a result, Wakefield suffered injuries in the incident. Emergency crews took him to Banner Hospital, where he died.
 
Detectives learned Clarke exhibited signs of impairment on scene. They booked him into the Pima County Jail and is facing charges of manslaughter, criminal damage, and driving under the influence.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
