Vicente Castellanos Arrested in Hit-and-Run on Broadway Road [Tempe, AZ]

16-Year-Old Girl Struck and Seriously Injured by Vicente Castellanos in Tempe

 
TEMPE, AZ (December 11, 2024) – The Tempe Police Department arrested 48-year-old Vicente Diaz Castellanos following a hit-and-run on Broadway Road on December 3.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Country Club Way. Based on a report, Castellanos was driving a white Honda Odyssey near the intersection before the accident.
 
At the same time, a 16-year-old girl was using the crosswalk against the light. Witnesses told officers that the suspect hit the girl and fled the scene.
 
As a result, the girl suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported her to the hospital for treatment.
 
Operators from the newly-opened Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC) quickly began utilizing traffic camera technology to help identify Castellanos. Officers later arrested him for hit-and-run.
