LUBBOCK, TX (July 8, 2024) – The Lubbock Police Department arrested 21-year-old Tyler Havens following an accident in the 2500 block of 44th Street on June 7.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened shortly after 9:45 PM. Based on a report, Havens drank at a friend’s house and started arguing with his girlfriend on their way home.
He said she got out of the car near South Loop 289. When he arrived home he saw another car pull into the driveway and he parked behind it before exiting. At that point, his girlfriend was there and they began arguing again. He then went to move his car and the woman walked up to his open passenger window.
When Havens reversed the car, the movement caused the woman to fall on the ground and hit her head. The driver of the other vehicle called 911.
As a result, the woman was hurt in the incident. Emergency crews took her to UMC for treatment.
Officers said Havens failed a field sobriety test. They arrested and charged him with a DWI and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injuries.
