Two Dead After Madera Car Crash on Highway 99

 
MADERA, CA (February 8, 2023) – Police confirmed that a fiery car crash on Highway 99 killed two people on Saturday, February 4.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at 5:10 p.m. near Avenue 18 1/2.

Based on reports, a Toyota C-HR was driving along the northbound lane of Highway 99 at 65 miles per hour in the number 2 lane. For unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved off road and struck a creek embankment.

After that, the Toyota landed on its roof and was engulfed in flames. Witnesses attempted to pull the man and woman out of the burning vehicle. However, they failed as the vehicle was already on fire.

Responders arrived and found both of the occupants dead at the scene.

There is no further information about the crash at this time. The deceased individuals were not yet identified.

Authorities are now looking into the factors of the crash.
