Two Hospitalized in Kent Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 167

 
KENT, WA (January 15, 2025) — Two people sustained serious injuries in a wrong-way accident on Highway 167 on Sunday, January 12.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash took place around 3:00 a.m. on Highway 516 near 277th Street.
 
WSP said a black Cadillac CTS traveled southbound in the northbound HOV lane. Then, it sideswiped a blue Honda CR-V. After that, it collided head-on with a white Subaru Outback. The impact caused both the Cadillac and Subaru to catch fire.
 
Emergency responders transported the 22-year-old Tacoma man driving the Cadillac and the 33-year-old Puyallup man in the Subaru to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. Meanwhile, the 59-year-old Puyallup man driving the Honda was not hurt.
 
Officials closed the northbound lanes of Highway 167 and the southbound HOV lane for approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. Authorities later reopened the road at around 7:00 a.m.
 
Investigators believe impairment may have contributed to the crash. The driver of the Cadillac faces vehicular assault charges.
