KAUFMAN COUNTY, TX (January 3, 2022) – Officers confirmed that two people died in a crash on Highway 80 on December 23.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Ham Orchards at approximately 11:30 PM.

Based on a report, two vehicles collided in the lanes. The Elmo Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Careflite responded to the scene. As of now, the authorities have not yet provided information as to what caused the accident.

As a result, the drivers of both vehicles died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the victims’ names, pending kin notification.

A passenger in one of the cars suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital.
