Two Dead after Avondale Car Accident near Dysart Road and Thomas Road

 
AVONDALE, AZ (August 20, 2024) — Two people died and four others were injured in a car accident near Dysart Road on Sunday, August 4.
 
According to the Avondale police, the crash occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. near Dysart Road and Thomas Road.
 
Avondale Police believe that a vehicle traveled north on Dysart Road. Then it ran a red light and crashed with the second vehicle making a left turn.
 
One passenger in the first vehicle died at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported a second passenger from the same vehicle to the hospital. But that person later succumbed to injuries and died.
 
Emergency responders also brought both drivers to the hospital as well as other passenger from each vehicle. The four of them reportedly sustained minor injuries.
 
The identities of those involved in the crash were not immediately available.
 
Police arrested the driver who ran the red light for DUI, manslaughter, and aggravated assault.
 
Additionally, during the investigation, officers also found out that the other driver was also under the influence. Police said they would forward charges of Driving Under the Influence to the appropriate court.
