Wrong-Way Driver Crashes into Cars on 19 Freeway in Green Valley
GREEN VALLEY, AZ (April 21, 2023) – Authorities confirmed that two people were hurt in a wrong-way crash on 19 Freeway on April 18.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at about 9:15 PM. Based on a report, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a felony suspect who was in a vehicle passing the border patrol’s checkpoint on the freeway.
Deputies said the border patrol followed the suspect who was traveling north in the southbound lanes. Subsequently, the suspect crashed into two southbound vehicles at kilometer 63.
As a result, the suspect and one other person suffered injuries in the incident. Information about the condition of the other person was not immediately available.
In addition, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
