Two Hurt, Driver Arrested in DUI Crash on 90 Freeway near Sprague Avenue

 
SPOKANE, WA (July 24, 2023) — Two people sustained injuries after a DUI accident on 90 Freeway on Wednesday, July 5.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at around 1:45 a.m. when a 2018 Nissan Versa left the roadway on the eastbound 90 Freeway near the Sprague Avenue exit. Then the vehicle struck a barrier and overturned.
 
WSP Sgt. Greg Riddell said that two people sustained injuries in the crash. The injured include the 37-year-old male driver and a 19-year-old female passenger. Both are Spokane Valley residents.
 
According to WSP, the 19-year-old passenger did not wear a seat belt. Paramedics transported her to Sacred Heart Medical Center as a precaution.
 
WSP then arrested the driver.
 
Troopers determined the cause of the accident as distracted driving. In addition, they believe drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
 
Authorities closed the area overnight while WSP investigated. It has since reopened.
