CARSON CITY, NV (April 30, 2024) — Two people died in a wrong-way accident on 580 Freeway on Wednesday, April 24.
 
According to the Nevada State Police, the accident took place on 580 Freeway near Snyder Avenue and Fairview Boulevard at about 4:51 a.m.
 
Authorities said two vehicles were involved in the collision. One vehicle reportedly traveled the wrong way on 580 Freeway southbound near Snyder Avenue and Fairview Boulevard. Then it hit a second vehicle.
 
Police confirmed two people dead in the accident. Their identities are not immediately available pending notification of loved ones.
 
NHP authorities said at least one vehicle caught on fire in the accident.
 
Authorities closed all southbound lanes after the crash. They reopened it at about 11:30 a.m.
