Fatal Car Crash from Street Takeover

 
FORT WORTH, TX (February 2, 2023) – Two people died and two others suffered injuries after a car crash on University Drive near White Settlement Road on Sunday evening, January 22.

According to the Fort Worth Police, the crash happened at approximately 11:00 p.m. and involved a red Camaro that just took off from a street takeover event.

Investigation revealed that the responding officers arrived on University Drive and turned on the vehicle’s emergency lights. Then, the driver of the Camaro turned off its lights and drove eastbound on White Settlement.

The police did not follow the Camaro.

After some time, officers from White Settlement described that they saw a “bright flash on the traffic circle”. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the Camaro went airborne and hit a power pole’s transformer before being caught in fire.

The driver and the passenger of the Camaro died at the scene, police said.

Two other passengers were pinned and had to be extricated from the overturned burning vehicle.

No other details are available as the investigation progresses.
