Fatal Car Accident on Wright Road in Houston

HOUSTON, TX (March 28, 2024) — Two people suffered fatal injuries after a car crash on Wright Road on Sunday, March 24.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place at the 7500 block of Wright Road near Spencer Road at around 6:20 p.m.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the initial investigation determined a black 4-door sedan moved southbound on Wright at a high rate of speed.

Then the vehicle may have gone into the northbound lanes. After that, the driver tried to regain control. The car then left the roadway and hit a series of fence poles and the curb. It then eventually came to rest after hitting a secondary fence.

Gonzalez said that four people were in the car. They were between 15 and 20 years old.

Officials said the impact of the crash ejected a male passenger in the backseat of the vehicle. They pronounced him dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed a female passenger in the backseat to the hospital in critical condition. However, medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Paramedics also airlifted both the front passenger and the driver, who are both 17-years-old, to the hospital in critical condition.

The sheriff said speed was an obvious contributing factor in the incident.

Authorities said officers also found a small bag of marijuana in the vehicle.
