Tony Hughes Arrested after Causing Head-On Car Crash in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 13, 2023) San Antonio Police officers arrested 24-year-old Tony Hughes following a head-on crash on Highway 90 on January 9.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in 7500 block of the Highway 90 access road. Based on a report, Hughes was trying to get away from officers when he started driving the wrong-way on the access road.

An officer driving in the opposite lane was able to avoid him but a 27-year-old woman driving a white car behind the police unit slammed into Hughes’ car head-on. Subsequently, Hughes’ car hit a telephone pole and rolled several times before coming to a stop.

As a result, crews took the woman in the second vehicle to the hospital for treatment. Police said she suffered non-serious injuries.

Investigators said Hughes was able to get out of the car and tried to run before officers caught up with him and arrested him. They charged him with evading arrest, aggravated assault, and failure to stop and render aid.

Drinking before driving is dangerous and can lead to an accident. Thus, never drink before driving to avoid getting hurt or hurting other people. In addition, follow road regulations at all times.
