Toefuataina Taai, Harold Venables, and James Dittmar Injured in George Multi-Vehicle Crash
GEORGE, WA (September 12, 2024) — Three people were hurt in a multi-car crash on Highway 28 on Thursday, September 5.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the multi-vehicle accident happened just after 8:30 a.m. two miles north of George.
WSP said 33-year-old Toefuataina Taai, of Yakima, drove northbound on Highway 281. At the same time, 74-year-old Harold Venables, of Cle Elum, also traveled northbound on the same highway. Simultaneously, 44-year-old Elias Lopez-Fernandez, of Moses Lake, drove a semi southbound.
Then Taai reportedly hit Venables. The impact pushed him into the southbound lanes. After that, Lopez-Fernandez hit both Taai and Venables in the southbound lanes.
Taai, Venables, and 78-year-old James Dittmar, of Ronald, who was a passenger in Venables’ vehicle, sustained injuries following the incident. Paramedics transported all of them to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, Lopez-Fernandez was not hurt.
It is not yet immediately available if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. Moreover, there are no reports of whether Taai will face charges.
WSP said everyone involved had their seatbelts fastened at the time of the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
