Timothy Bump Dies in Redlands Hit-and-Run

 
REDLANDS, CA (January 11, 2024) — Timothy Bump died while a motorist ended up arrested after a hit-and-run on Lugonia Avenue and Church Street, Saturday morning, December 30.

The fatal incident involved a 2002 Mitsubishi SUV, according to the Redlands Police Department which received a report at around 5:30 a.m.

Officials stated that 72-year-old Bump had figured in an accident with the Mitsubishi, driven by a 61-year-old Mentone resident, for reasons still unknown.

The collision left Bump with fatal injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Mitsubishi fled the scene.

At first, authorities did not know the model of the vehicle, prompting a search for clues. As detectives examined paint chips, debris and surveillance footage, law enforcement later determined the SUV and its registered owner.

Police then arrested the Mitsubishi driver on suspicion of hit and run causing injury or death.

In an update on Wednesday, January 3, the suspect posted bail.

The case is still under investigation. However, no additional details are released at this time.
