Fatal Wrong-Way Head-On Crash on 8 Freeway in El Centro

 
EL CENTRO, CA (February 27, 2023) – Officers confirmed that three people died in a head-on crash on 8 Freeway on February 20.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Forrester Road at about 7:36 PM. Based on a report, a 2021 Tesla Model 3 was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, it struck a 2016 Acura ILX head-on, causing the second vehicle to catch fire.
 
As a result, the driver and passenger of the Tesla and the 28-year-old driver of the Acura died in the incident. The County Coroner’s Division did not yet release the victims’ identities, pending kin notification.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
