Three Injured in Accident on Arapahoe Avenue [Boulder, CO]

BOULDER, CO (August 29, 2024) — Three people sustained injuries in a car accident on Wednesday, August 14.
 
According to Boulder Police Department spokeswoman Dionne Waugh, the crash happened near Arapahoe Avenue and Foothills Parkway at about 3:30 p.m.
 
Waugh said that a 20-year-old driver of an SUV ran a red light on 48th Street and Arapahoe Avenue. Then it crashed into a sedan moving southbound that had a green light.
 
After that, the SUV continued moving in a southwest direction. It subsequently hit an eastbound Lexus that stopped at the light. The impact of the collision pushed the Lexus into a Tesla that was behind it.
 
Emergency responders brought the sedan driver to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They also transported the Lexus driver to the hospital with minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the Tesla driver was not hurt, Waugh said.
 
The SUV driver suffered minor injuries from airbag deployment. He was not brought to the hospital. Afterward, officers cited him for careless driving causing injury.
 
The incident closed the eastbound lanes on Arapahoe Avenue at Foothills Parkway. Authorities reopened all closed areas at about 4:19 p.m.
