GEORGETOWN, CO (July 8, 2024) — Three people suffered injuries in a six-vehicle accident on the 70 Freeway on Wednesday, June 19.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, they received a report of a semi-truck on fire on the eastbound 70 Freeway near Georgetown shortly before 12:40 p.m.
 
While emergency crews closed the eastbound lanes and extinguished the fire, there was another collision involving six vehicles in the backed-up traffic.
 
CSP said another semi-truck approached the back of the stopped traffic on the downhill slope. Then it was not able to stop before crashing into the vehicles.
 
Paramedics transported three people to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is not immediately clear. A fourth person received medical aid on their own after leaving the scene of the incident.
 
According to the CSP, the fire began on the brakes of the semi-truck.
 
Authorities reopened the road by 3:20 p.m.
