Three People Killed after Fontana Wrong-Way Crash on 15 Freeway
FONTANA, CA (October 26, 2022) — Three people died following a wrong-way car crash on 15 Freeway on Tuesday morning, October 25.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred near Sierra Avenue at around 11:40 p.m. It involved a 2021 Kia four-door hatchback and a 2016 Honda sedan.
Authorities said a vehicle traveled north on the southbound side of 15 Freeway when it collided into another vehicle. It was unclear which vehicle had the wrong-way driver.
Two people found themselves trapped inside the wreckage of one of the vehicles, which later caught fire. The victims died at the scene.
Another person involved in the other vehicle also succumbed from their injuries.
Officials did not disclose the names of the deceased, though the three were identified as two residents of Rialto and a 57-year-old resident of Glendale.
The circumstances behind the crash remain under investigation at this time.
