Suspected Drunk Driver Thomas Kelly Jr. Involved in Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Arlington

 
ARLINGTON, TX (December 1, 2024) – Arlington police arrested 27-year-old Thomas Kelly Jr. following a fatal motorcycle accident on North Collins Street on November 16.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened early morning in the 2700 block of the road. Based on a report, Kelly Jr. was driving a 2004 Chevy Silverado at the time of the crash.
 
He was weaving through lanes when he attempted to pass other vehicles. At that point, he struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle head-on.
 
As a result, the 55-year-old motorcyclist suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after notifying next of kin.
 
Witnesses reported that Kelly exited the vehicle, discarded multiple beer cans into a nearby field, and attempted to flee the scene. Passersby pursued and detained him until officers arrived.
 
Officers suspected Kelly was intoxicated based on witness accounts and his behavior. He refused to perform roadside sobriety tests and was uncooperative with investigators. Officers later arrested and charged him with Intoxication Manslaughter, Collision Involving Death, and Tampering.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
