Therston Benjamin Dead in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 8 and FM 1516
SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 24, 2024) — 38-year-old Therston Benjamin died in a pedestrian accident on Saturday, September 14.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at about 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 87 eastbound and FM 1516.
The China Grove Fire Department and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area. They found Benjamin with fatal injuries and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver involved told deputies they noticed a vehicle swerve in front of them. They then tried to swerve their vehicle out of the way.
However, while trying to swerve, the driver said they struck the pedestrian with the front end of their vehicle.
After the initial collision, the driver told deputies that another vehicle, a white Jeep, also hit the pedestrian. After that, the Jeep continued moving eastbound on Highway 87.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office said Benjamin died because of blunt force injuries sustained in the accident.
There were no reports of other injuries in the incident.
