Edward Ruiz Hospitalized after Benton County Motorcycle Accident

 
BENTON COUNTY, WA (September 24, 2024) — 25-year-old Edward F. Ruiz, of Pasco, was hurt in a motorcycle accident on Friday, September 13.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident occurred on 82 Freeway, just before the Umatilla Bridge over the Columbia River shortly after 3:00 p.m.
 
WSP said Ruiz drove a Honda motorcycle south on 82 Freeway. Then the motorcycle hit the back of a Volkswagen Jetta ahead of him driven by 19-year-old Jonathan Alvarado, of Hermiston, Oregon.
 
Paramedics arrived at the scene and then transported Ruiz with serious injuries to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. He was in stable condition, the hospital said on Saturday.
 
Alvarado did not sustain any injuries at the incident.
 
WSP said impairment did not contribute to the collision. In addition, they said there are pending charges against Ruiz.
