Steve Nartey Dead, Monica Valdez Arrested in Houston Wrong-Way Accident

 
HOUSTON, TX (February 16, 2025) — A 56-year-old man identified as Steve Nartey died in a wrong-way accident on Thursday, February 6.
 
According to the Houston Police, the accident happened at about 3:15 a.m. at 4400 North Freeway near Crosstimbers Street.
 
Police said 32-year-old Monica Rosenda Valdez drove a Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway. After that, she collided with a Jeep Cherokee driven by Nartey. She also hit a Toyota Camry.
 
Emergency responders arrived at the scene. Then then pronounced Nartey dead.
 
Meanwhile, the Toyota driver received treatment for minor injuries.
 
Paramedics also brought Valdez to a hospital. Then they discovered her impairment. Officials then charged her with intoxication manslaughter.
 
Authorities believe Valdez probably drove the wrong way for 10 to 15 minutes before the collision. They will book her into the Harris County Joint Processing Center upon her release from the hospital.
 
The investigation remains ongoing.
