BEAUMONT, TX (July 31, 2024) — A 52-year-old Beaumont man identified as Derek Dewayne Banks died in a hit-and-run on Thursday, July 18.
 
According to the Beaumont Police Department, the incident took place on the 6700 block of College Street, just east of Dowlen Road, at around 10:19 p.m.
 
When responding officers arrived at the scene, they found Banks and then pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
An initial investigation determined that an unknown driver hit Banks and then fled the scene after striking him.
 
Beaumont Police handles the ongoing investigation of the fatal incident.
