LUBBOCK, TX (June 27, 2024) — A woman identified as 64-year-old Teodora Castro sustained injuries in a DUI crash on Friday, June 14.
 
According to the Lubbock Police Department, the accident took place at the intersection of Idalou Highway and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard just after 11:30 p.m.
 
According to LPD, 19-year-old Saul Hernandez traveled west in a pickup truck on the 1700 block of Idalou Highway. At the same time, Castro drove east on the 1500 block of 19th Street. Then Castro tried to turn north on MLK Boulevard when she crashed with Hernandez.
 
Paramedics brought Castro to the University Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
 
Meanwhile, officers arrested Hernandez for intoxication assault. After that, they brought him to the Lubbock County Detention Center where he remained as of Saturday afternoon.
