Fatal Accident on Highway 67 in San Angelo
SAN ANGELO, TX (July 8, 2024) – Officials confirmed that a 17-year-old died in an accident on Highway 67 on May 24.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Preacher Road around 4:30 PM. Based on a report, a 2023 Dodge 2500 truck was traveling south on the highway during the crash.
At the same time, a 2010 Ford Escape was waiting for oncoming traffic to pass so it could turn left onto Preacher Road. Due to unknown reasons, the truck driver failed to control his speed due to a distraction in the vehicle. This caused the truck to strike the car where the teen was a passenger. Both vehicles then skidded into a ditch.
As a result, the teen sustained grave injuries. Crews transported the victim via AirMed1 to Shannon Medical Center and to Lubbock’s University Medical Center, where the victim died.
The driver of the Escape had serious injuries. The victim’s 16-year-old passenger and the driver of the Dodge had minor injuries.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
We offer our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
