HINSDALE COUNTY, CO (July 8, 2024) – Officials confirmed that a 10-year-old girl died in a dirt bike accident on Forest Service Road 640 on June 6.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened at Forest Service Road 631 around 5:30 PM. Based on a report, the girl was riding a dirt bike south on Forest Service Road 640 during the crash.
 
She was wearing a helmet and other protective gear at that point. Responders said she went through a stop sign and failed to yield at the intersection. As she was making a sharp turn onto the eastbound lane of Forest Service Road 631, a Toyota Tacoma hit her.
 
As a result, the girl suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not release her name, pending kin notification.
 
The driver of the truck, an 18-year-old man was not hurt. He stayed at the site of the accident.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
