Taylor Stithem and Sara Papila Killed after Chandler Head-on Car Accident

 
CHANDLER, AZ (January 23, 2024) — 33-year-old Taylor Stithem and 36-year-old Sara Papila died in a head-on accident on Thursday, January 19.
 
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the crash took place on Hunt Highway, shortly before 10:15 p.m.
 
MCSO said 47-year-old Raymond Sampaga drove a black Ram truck westbound on Hunt Highway. Then Raymond crossed the left of the centerline. After that, his vehicle crashed head-on with a white Hyundai SUV driven by Stithem, with Papila as a front seat passenger.
 
Both Stithem with Papila died in the accident. Sampaga suffered serious injuries. He is expected to survive.
 
Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez said Sampaga has a medical condition. It may have caused a medical event before the collision, he added.
 
Authorities have not yet determined if speed or impairment contributed to the incident.
 
The fatal accident is still under investigation.
